Community Assistance

Community Meals – Congregate Meal Programs are intended to provide nutritionally sound meals to seniors in a group setting.

Farm To Table – A partnership effort to bring fresh local produce to programs serving older adults in Seattle and King County

NEST (North East Seattle Together) – Non-profit community providing a support network for seniors in northeast Seattle through trusted business referrals and volunteers.

PNA Village (Phinney Neighborhood Association Village) – Through a network of helpers, membership in PNA Village allows seniors to stay within their homes and neighborhoods while staying engaged and active as they age.


Elder Abuse

Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention is of the utmost importance in our industry. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect represent just a few of the forms of elder abuse we all need to watch for. Family Support & Education

Trusted Transitions (Hospital Discharge Assistance Program) – Nearly twenty percent of seniors discharged from the hospital will be readmitted within 30 days. Proven effective by way of decades of scholarly research on the issue, the Trusted Transitions program ensures that certain strategic steps are taken before, during, and after discharge in order to keep hospital readmissions at their lowest.

King County Caregiver Support Network – A complete resource for family and unpaid caregivers providing assistance to seniors.

Computer Training For Seniors – Presented by The Seattle Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens, these beginning computer technology classes are offered to anyone over the age of 50. Classes are available in Greenwood, Southeast Seattle, Lake City, Wallingford and Belltown (downtown Seattle).

Fall Prevention – Most of the main factors that lead to seniors falling within the home are easily prevented. By having a senior safety expert come out and provide a free home safety check, you can be sure that your aging loved one will be safe within his or her home.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute – University of Washington – Membership where adults over 50 come together to share intellectual interests and make new friends in a UW classroom setting. There are a variety of courses and special events are offered.

Randy Lyon and his team have donated their time to several of Northwest Senior Care’s Antique Appraisal Events which raise money for senior centers around King County. Singer Antique Galleries – Scott Singer is one of the more well known antique appraisers in the Seattle area and has also helped Northwest Senior Care by donating some of his time for the Antique Appraisal Events which raise money for senior center around King County.

Oral Health Self Management Plan – Developed by the Aging and Disability Services of King County, use this self management plan to monitor your own dental health and know what warning signs to watch for.

Senior Depression (PEARLS Program) – By using proven treatment strategies tailored to each individual, the PEARLS program is designed to reduce depressive symptoms and improve quality of life in older adults.

ENHANCE Fitness and Wellness Programs – Developed by Senior Services of Seattle, the Enhance programs were designed through years of scientific research to promote the health and wellness of older adults.

Walking Events – Seattle and King County walking events for people over 50

Sound Steps Walking Program – Aimed to increase the social connection and physical activity of people 50 and older through a member-directed community walking program that is welcoming and accessible to anyone.
